(Babel Fish). Advanced tools are very powerful and easy to use.

 

Ask Jeeves (www.ask.com)

Natural language search tool with spell checker, ask questions, get answers.

Links to other search engines in addition to their database.

 

Ask Jeeves for Kids (www.ajkids.com)

Filtered content for kids answers questions. Ask why is the sky blue and see

what you get.

 

HotBot (www.hotbot.com)

Excellent tool for filtered searches for date, media, language, etc.

Complicated to use but the best for filtering searches.

 

Excite (www.excite.com)

Similar to AltaVista and Yahoo, combines a directory and a search engine. Lots

of news etc on the portal page.

 

Yahoo (www.yahoo.com)

One of the first, started as a directory now it includes Google search engine.

The directory is easy to search and has some excellent sites.

 

Yahooligans (www.yahooligans.com)

Yahoo for kids, filtered (kid safe) content. Look for clipart.

 

Google (www.google.com)

Considered the best, largest index of any search engine. If you have a PC

consider downloading and installing the Google Button Bar, its an add-on for IE

that adds access to the Google search engine to your toolbar and more.

 

DogPile (www.dogpile.com)

A meta-search site allows you to search multiple search sites at once. Use the

Fetch button to search numerous search sites at one time

 

About (www.about.com)

A directory build by experts this is a good place to look for expert advice or

links. The Guides offer the best of the web in thousands of categories.
