Frosh Tech Course Outline
Course Description
Students will learn useful and practical applications of the Microsoft Office
Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. They will create a web page and learn
to use a database. Emphasis will be placed on career exploration and preparing
for the world of work. This course is recommended for college preparation
as well as vocational and personal use.
Keyboarding Skills
- Type and/or input text on a computer at a minimum of 25 gross words
a minute for five minutes with no more than five errors. (By end of the semester)
- Produce a memo, letter, simple table, and short unbound report error
free. (4 weeks)
- Understand proofreader's marks and know how to use them. (1 weeks)
Computer Skills
- Understand and identify the hardware components of a computer. (1 week)
- Understand and use various software applications. (8 weeks)
- Appropriately use terms associated with computers. 8 weeks)
- Understand computer ethics and responsible use. (1 week)
- Knowledge of the history of computers. (1 week)
- Insight to emerging technologies. (1 week)
