Choral Music Cherry has taught vocal music for over thirty years to students in grades 1-12. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal music and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction through the arts. Cherry is a strong advocate for the arts in education and actively participates in teacher training and mentoring. She is a member of state and national music organizations, including MENC, CMEA, and ACDA. Cherry has been Teacher of the Year for Pleasant Ridge District, the May Martin Goyne Educator of the Arts award, the Founders Award for the RAVES Redding Vocal Jazz and Show Pop Festival, and was the California Music Educators Association, Capitol Section, 2003 Choral Music Educator of the Year. Cherry's favorite teaching position is the one she's in now! She directs Men's Chorus, Women's Chorus, Women's Ensemble, Jazz Unlimited and Starlite Express. Cherry also conducts, along with her students, a show choir summer camp for students in grades 3-8. |
