Anatomy of a web address

"Pubweb" is a common term in Web addresses.  It refers to a public Web server.  Typically, a PubWeb is a machine on a network that is set aside as a depository of personal files.  This is the first clue that this is a personal file.

acns--Network administrators name file servers and they can use any name they wish.  The name has no meaning.

nwu-- Northwestern University owns the domain name "nwu.edu." indicates that nwu is an organization of higher learning.

~The tilde(~) symbol is the second clue that tells us this is a personal posting.  Within the structure of a Web address, the tilde is used to indicate the beginning of a personal directory

abutz--As you can see "abutz" follows the tilde.  We are in a personal subdirectory and it is named after the owner, Arthur Butz.

"Camps.html"--refers to the specific page that describes Zyklon.  The rest of the Web address moves us through various directories until we reach the page.
